A random update

So it has been a blue moon since we posted anything but of course that does not mean that nothing has been going on. In fact, the rate at which things have been going on is rapidly accelerating close to the speed of light and thus I am younger than you all now. Ya know, because of the space travel.

Anyway, here are a few things of note:

1. Amalia recently had a blood test to see if she is still allergic to eggs. We are still awaiting the results, but we look forward to being able to feed her eggs, and egg-based food products, such as pancakes, cakes, custard, pudding, pancakes and other cakey things.

2. Amalia repeats virtually every word we say. It has been difficult to curtail the cussing, and really we are playing with fire at this point, especially when we drop tools on our bare feet.

3. Speaking of bare feet and tools, we moved recently back into our rental home, as the tenants had vacated back to the greener pastures of India, and we needed the lower overhead. Amalia has adjusted to the move quite well. We painted her room the same colors as the old one, and she likes it just fine. Has not complained about the change at all.

4. Amalia now sleeps through the night! We paid some money to see a child psychologist, who advised us on the steps needed to ween her properly. It was a bumpy process at first, but for about the last month or so she has slept very well all night long, as long as she is at home. We recently visited her grandparents in Oregon, and that did not go well sleep-wise, but I'll complain about that some other time. Long story short the main problem with getting Amalia to go to sleep was that we had mistakenly associated feeding time with sleep time, which biochemically does not work because all the nutrients from feeding make her body want to be awake. So it took about 60-90 days and now it seems we are in the clear. Thank GOD and the psychologist!

5. Daddy got laid off in August and still hasn't landed a new gig yet, but Amalia still seems to like him well enough.

6. Amalia graduated to an older kids room at day care, she is with the 2-year old class now, and has left the baby room behind. It all has gone by quite fast, and her teachers in the old room miss her. Amalia still talks about them all the time, but is very happy in the new room too and has a lot of fun there with the more sophisticated activities and interacting with the older kids. 7. Mommy and daddy are plotting a little brother or sister for Amalia... not sure what the timeline should be since daddy is jobless and the finances are a bit precarious at the moment, but optimism reigns supreme... stay tuned.
